Everton Soares accepts AC Milan transfer

AC Milan have reached an agreement with Gremio for the signing of left winger Everton Soares but there is one big problem.

AC Milan have been following Gremio star winger Everton Soares since Leonardo became sporting director of the club. After signing Lucas Paqueta from Flamengo for €35 million, Leonardo opened negotiations to make Everton his second signing from Brazil.

AC Milan desperately need a new left winger. Hakan Calhanoglu has been a total disappointment this season finding the back of the net on just one occasion in Serie A. Samu Castillejo, a natural right winger, when adapted on the left has rarely done better. That’s why the signing of a top quality winger like Everton is a priority at Casa Milan.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan have already agreed terms with Everton Soares and Gremio. Using the same strategy he used for Paqueta, Leonardo has anticipated the competition of richer clubs like Manchester City and Manchester United. AC Milan will pay Gremio €35 million for Everton while the player should sign a long term contract of 5 years.

Unfortunately there is one big problem: UEFA. The Rossoneri have been referred to the UEFA Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) adjudicatory chamber over further alleged Financial Fair Play breaches. The club has failed to comply with the break-even requirement from 2016 to 2018. A situation that Elliot is not accepting and will certainly be resolved in court.

The issue has irritated a lot Leonardo who wanted to announce the signing of Everton before the end of the football season. Milan don’t want to aggravate the relationship with UEFA that’s why Everton’s purchase must be postponed for the moment. Still, the signing of a hugely talented player like Everton Soares is a great hit by Milan. Dubbed the new Neymar, Everton is blessed with incredible dribbling and great close control.
